Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • 11 years of work experience in a company or department with a heavy emphasis on delivering technology services
  • 10 years of direct work experience in a project management capacity, including all aspects of the project life cycle
  • Ability to lead and manage a large-scale, complex multi-year project that may significantly alter a claim processing system
  • Comfortable working across several portfolios, including claims, CSS, digital, finance, infrastructure, and security
  • Knowledge of PMI principles or standard project management methodology
  • Experience in:
    • Managing a program of projects
    • Mentoring/coaching project managers
    • Managing projects with a set methodology
    • Risk identification, mitigation, and contingency planning
    • Mainframe
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with senior leadership from executive director and up
  • Strong customer-facing skills and excellent ability to communicate clearly and professionally over the phone
  • Demonstrated ability to work with remote teams and remote customers
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a matrixed environment and ability to manage a large matrix team to coordinate tasks, keep them focused, address any concerns, and ensure that the program is successful
  • Must be a motivated, self-starter, results-oriented, and aggressive worker and have high attention to detail
  • Must have a high level of discipline to work independently and remotely with the majority of interaction with others being over the phone
  • Ability to adapt to communication styles of team members and contractors who come from a broad spectrum of disciplines

Certifications:

  • PMP certified (required)
  • PgMP (desirable)

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages several project managers in implementing modernization initiative
  • Develops program plan with assistance from the customer and internal support organizations
  • Manages and communicates with the staff associated with the program, including the business stakeholders, to deliver the program plan
  • Leads and executes program/projects in a transparent and productive way, applying standard project management practices
  • Develops the program charter establishing the program’s key objectives, participants, and scope, and communicates it effectively
  • Plans, schedules, and tracks program deliverables and milestones using MS Project
  • Oversees individual project plans, schedules, and project deliverables and milestones using MS Project to ensure they link to the overall program
  • Establishes program and project change controls and risk management processes
  • Ensures that user acceptance testing is conducted
  • Effectively communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Manages all program changes and actively addresses any program issues
  • Coaches and mentors junior project managers
