Job Description

  • Bachelor’s degree in any major OR equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of project management experience
  • Knowledge of PMI principles or standard project management methodology
  • Proven expertise using project management methods
  • Healthcare background and experience with IT projects preferred
  • Ability to manage a small matrix team to coordinate tasks, keep them focused, address any concerns, and ensure that the project is successful
  • Must have good facilitation skills and good relationship management skills
  • Excellent workgroup management skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work with remote teams and remote customers and the discipline to work independently and remotely with the majority of interaction with others being over the phone
  • Proficient computer skills with recent working experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project or Planview
  • Must be a motivated self-starter and assertive worker with strong attention to detail

Required Certifications:

  • PMP certification


  • Oversees/develops business and vendor requirements for stakeholders, user groups, and vendors
  • Develops and maintains and specific project management documentation for assigned projects
  • Documents and communicates to the organization and vendors about current and proposed process flows for business and vendor requirements in order to secure commitment in using these processes, which will help reduce risk and ensure a successful outcome of the project
  • Develops cost/benefit analyses (if applicable), benchmarking analysis, and risk management for business, vendor, and IT deliverables by using project management methodology (PMM) to lessen number of defects and mitigate risk of the project failing
  • Evaluates technical log issues during all phases of the project
  • Actively manages project risks throughout the development life cycle
  • Organizes and leads user group meetings
  • Provides functional expertise in regard to product, application, and services
  • Coordinates business and vendor testing requirements for stakeholders by ensuring interviews, questionnaires, and team meetings are taking place that are used to identify and mitigate risk
  • Develops readiness assessment criteria during user acceptance phases (includes knowledge transition in order to successfully provide ongoing production support)
  • Creates project budgets and tracks project expenses to ensure project stays within budget
  • Translates customers’ business system design into scope, work breakdown structures, and schedule using PMM and tools to ensure all critical tasks required to complete activities are incorporated in the project plan
  • Leads stakeholders in testing, implementation, and issues resolution by monitoring and tracking test case completion reports to ensure tasks are being completed
  • Manages day-to-day customer and enterprise vendor relationships with all vendors via all available mediums to ensure effective communication across all delivery teams
  • Establishes and reviews unit and user test plans and schedules via all available mediums to ensure all data and input is accurate and complete prior to start of execution
  • Develops and submits project status reports to customer relations management, and customers and vendor partners via email to ensure proactive communication is being provided
  • Manages evaluations and recommendations of technical and business solutions to meet the company and customer business and system strategies by collaborating with all areas indicated to ensure adherence to architecture guidelines
  • Conducts informal coaching activities with less experienced associates

Additional roles and responsibilities:

  • Develops initial project-specific implementation strategies
  • Directs the creation of test data
  • Recommends scope and direction changes during all phases of the project
  • Provides support throughout implementation activities to business readiness teams via all mediums to ensure all training and operational workflows are accurately documented
  • Represents assigned business or system interests to various committees
  • Recommends suggestions for implementing project delivery process improvements
