Job Description

Remote Opportunity – but must be located in Eastern or Central time zone.

The Scrum Master will be working with teams that develop a claims API and digital connector pods and events for consumption.


  • Clear understanding of one of the Agile frameworks and key best practices (Disciplined Agile, SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Experience leading an API Scrum team
  • Ability to break down large features and backlogs
  • Healthcare payer claims experience highly preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills
  • Effective communicator who can drive results
  • Must demonstrate leadership ability to effectively interact with all levels of management


  • Leads one or more Agile teams as the Scrum Master and team member
  • Employs best practices for Agile/Scrum methodology, while operating within the department’s overall SDLC framework
  • Works collaboratively with the product managers and team members to give input and support to the strategic direction of the initiative
  • Motivates and supports team members and ensures they have the tools and knowledge to do their jobs and that all blocking issues are resolved quickly
  • Determines what is to be worked on (backlog) and how those backlog tasks will be handled
  • Owns everything that happens in a sprint (sprint owner)
  • Facilitates daily stand-ups and runs the stand-up or ensures another resource is designated to do so
  • Works to define and implement best practices
  • Plans and constantly manages current and next sprints – there will be constant grooming and shuffling
  • Pulls the highest priority items from backlog for sprint planning
  • Allocates resources to tasks as prioritized for current sprint and soft allocates for upcoming sprints
  • Identifies ancillary resources to support current and upcoming sprints
  • Ensures CSRs are written as needed
  • Facilitates/coordinates the clearing of blockers
  • Works as the main point of contact to facilitate responses to issues/defects received from non-pod resources (i.e., outside of the stand ups)
  • Tracks defects
  • Plans and facilitates sprint planning meetings and retrospectives
  • Focuses on long-term effectiveness of team​
